THEIR ROYAL HIGHNESSES ATTEND PARALYMPICS DAY EVENT

Belgrade, 12 June 2007 – Their Royal Highnesses Crown Prince Alexander II and Crown Princess Katherine, accompanied by Monsieur De Maigret and Mr. Horst Tiefenthaler attended yesterday the Paralympics Day event, which was held at the “Pionir” sports hall in Belgrade.

Their Royal Highnesses were very much moved by the effort, the spirit, the heart, and the sportsmanship that these competitors have shown in volleyball, table tennis and basketball, as well as indoor football. Even dancers performed in wheelchairs.

“These people deserve our respect. They do not give up. They are true winners and champions” – said Dr. Zoran Micovic, President of the Paralympics Movement in Serbia.

Apart from Their Royal Highnesses and the president of the Paralympics Movement in Serbia, the event was also attended by well the known Serbian table-tennis player and medal winner Aleksandar Karakasevic and many other public figures.

Their Royal Highnesses Crown Prince Alexander II and Crown Princess Katherine are known for their compassion towards disabled persons. Just recently, they hosted the participants of the BIG HEART event which is meant to help the abused women and children, especially those who are disabled. Their Royal Highnesses have, on numerous occasions, also delivered wheelchairs to various hospitals in Serbia.
