PRINCESS KATHERINE TRYING TO SAVE ANOTHER CHILD'S LIFE
Belgrade, 17 October 2008 – Her Royal Highness Crown Princess Katherine together with HE Mr. Krister Bringeus, the Swedish Ambassador visited today little Teodora Maksimovic, a twelve-year old girl from Kosova and Metohija who is suffering from leukaemia and who is at the moment hospitalized in Children’s Hospital in Tirosova, Belgrade.
The Crown Princess and the Ambassador were welcomed by Prof. Dr. Ida Jovanovic, the Deputy Director of Tirsova Hospital, Dr. Dragana Janic, Head of Haematology and Oncology Department.
The Crown Princess Katherine through her Foundations in Belgrade and Athens is once again pulling all connections to save another life.
Young Teodora Maksimovic will be sent on Monday, 20 October to the Children’s Aghia Sophia Hospital in Athens, where she will have bone marrow transplantation. This complicated and delicate operation will be performed by Prof. Dr. Stelios Graphakos, Head of Department for Bone Marrow Transplantation.
Hopefully, the hospital in Greece will find a right match from the international bone marrow bank for little Teodora and that the surgery will have the best possible result for little Teodora and her family.
The Crown Princess Katherine is thanking on this occasion to everyone that supported this great effort and join her in this mission of saving lives.
