EASTER INITIATIVE “CHILDREN HELPING CHILDREN” AT THE ROYAL PALACE

In the spirit of the most joyful Christian holiday, the traditional humanitarian event “Children Helping Children” was once again held this year at the Royal Palace, an initiative launched many years ago by HRH Crown Princess Katherine. This event brings together students from Belgrade’s international and private schools with the aim of nurturing, from an early age, an awareness of the joy of giving, the importance of compassion, solidarity, and helping others.

As part of this year’s Easter activities, the students had the opportunity to visit the Royal Compound, learn about the history and tradition of the Royal House of Karađorđević, and enjoy an educational tour that combines knowledge, culture, and humanity. During this special visit, the children brought carefully prepared gifts intended for children without parental care, children with developmental disabilities, and those from socially vulnerable backgrounds.

These gifts will be distributed during the traditional Easter reception at the White Palace, which will take place on Thursday, 17 April 2025, at which Their Royal Highnesses host and bring joy to more than a thousand children every year.

Crown Prince Alexander and Crown Princess Katherine are deeply grateful to the students and schools who generously responded to the invitation and joined this initiative to bring joy to vulnerable children: the German School in Belgrade, International Primary School (IPS), the French School in Belgrade, the “Ruđer Bošković” International School, the British International School in Belgrade, “Milena Pavlović Barili” High School, and “Kreativno pero” School. Their Royal Highnesses regret that, due to important and unavoidable obligations abroad, they were unable to personally welcome the children, but they are confident that the students and their teachers enjoyed their time at the Royal Palace.

Crown Princess Katherine expressed her sincere gratitude to the children and schools who responded to the invitation and once again demonstrated that generosity and humanity are priceless values that must be nurtured from early childhood.

“I am proud of all the children who participated in our “Children Helping Children” initiative. Their willingness to help, give, and bring joy to their peers is proof that a bright future rests on the values we build together. When children are involved in humanitarian activities from an early age, they not only learn the joy of giving—but also become carriers of change and kindness,” said HRH Crown Princess Katherine.

This initiative has once again shown how small hands can accomplish great deeds when guided by love.
