Their Royal Highnesses Crown Prince Alexander and Crown Princess Katherine officially opened the Seventh “Serbian Diaspora Medical Conference 2016” at the Metropol Palace in Belgrade today. This year’s conference brought together over 60 speakers from abroad, including the speakers that come from the Mayo Clinic and Harvard.
The Seventh “Serbian Diaspora Medical Conference 2016” covers a wide range of medical sciences, from various areas of medicine, with a focus on endocrinology, cardiology, psychiatry, orthopedics, oncopathology, pediatric hematology and cardiology. Speakers and moderators are the most prominent medical experts from Serbia and abroad. This year’s Conference involved more than five hundred doctors. The objectives of the Conference are to promote cooperation between our doctors and experts in the field of medical sciences from the Diaspora with the institutions and individuals in Serbia, as well as their networking with the Serbian academic community.
His Royal Highness Crown Prince Alexander addressed the participants and guests at the opening ceremony of the conference and said he is very proud of his wife and her foundation, because the seventh time organized this important conference: “I am very proud of my wife and her foundation, for organizing the Serbian Diaspora Medical Conference for the seventh time. I am glad this event has become a tradition. Exchange of experiences and knowledge between the doctors from Serbia and abroad is of great importance and I wish you every success in this” – emphasized the Crown Prince.
Her Royal Highness Crown Princess Katherine welcomed the guests and said: “We who have gathered here should put our efforts into making the health care system in Serbia better, more efficient and more accessible to all our citizens. Through joint effort, we will make our country’ future better. This country needs you, as well as your knowledge, and our nation is grateful for your help. Serbia has a great tradition in medical sciences. We have very good doctors. The importance of international cooperation and continuous improvement is huge. I would like to thank our partners: Minister of Health Dr Zlatibor Loncar, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Office for Diaspora, Medical faculties in Belgrade and Novi Sad and the World Health Organization”, said Crown Princess Katherine.
HE Dr Zlatibor Loncar, Minister of health of Republic of Serbia sent a letter which was read, and after that the guests were also addressed by Dr. Vesna Jovanovic, director of the Medical Chamber of Serbia, Prof. Nebojsa Lalic, Dean of the Medical Faculty, Prof. Dusica Babovic from the Mayo Clinic and Prof Ida Jovanovic, a member of the Royal Medical Board and protohierarch-sravrophore Vladimir Vukasinovic of the Archbishopric of Belgrade-Karlovac, who spoke on behalf of His Holiness Serbian Patriarch Irinej.
The Seventh “Serbian Diaspora Medical Conference 2016” will be held from 18 to 20 May in Belgrade, with Their Royal Highnesses Crown Prince Alexander and Crown Princess Katherine as the patrons, and was organized by the Foundation of HRH Crown Princess Katherine, with the support of the Ministry of Health, the Serbian Medical Chamber, University of Belgrade School of Medicine, the World Health Organization (WHO), Lifeline Humanitarian Organization Chicago, New York, Toronto, London and Athens, whose patron is Crown Princess Katherine.
