Crown Prince and Crown Princess welcome hearing impaired children at Royal Palace

Crown Prince Alexander and Crown Princess Katherine hosted thirty hearing impaired children at the Royal Palace today, and in this way supported the program “Hear and Understand” and marked the week of the hearing impaired people. This week has a long international tradition, it has been continually held each year during the last week of September, since 1958.

Crown Prince Alexander and Crown Princess Katherine in collaboration with Audiovox, the Tourist Organization of Belgrade and other friends of the program organized an interesting and busy day for the thirty hearing impaired children. This year, the gathering was organized so that the children and the guests of the program “Hear and Understand” took the Belgrade Open Bus tour, starting from the National Parliament and visiting all the important sights of Belgrade. Then they visited the Royal Compound in Dedinje, where they were welcomed by Their Royal Highnesses, who organized a welcome cocktail. Throughout this program, a magician was with the children, who made this adventure even more fun.

HRH Crown Princess Katherine who is known for her humanitarian work, this July helped a young girl, accompanied by her mother and two teachers from the “Stefan Decanski” special elementary school for hearing impaired children, to travel to the camp “The Holley Family Village” in Detroit in the United States, to upgrade their knowledge in the application of the new methods of communication with hearing impaired people. Crown Princess Katherine will try to launch a similar camp in Serbia, in cooperation with doctor Megler, who is the chairman of “The Holley Family Village” organization from Detroit, and who covered all the expenses of the young girl’s traveling and staying in the camp
