A wing of the “Rada Vranjesevic Home for Children” in Banja Luka, the Republic of Srpska, was completely renovated thanks to the efforts of Lifeline Humanitarian Organization of Chicago, whose patron is Her Royal Highness Crown Princess Katherine, and HRH Crown Princess Katherine Foundation in Belgrade.
The funding of this important project was made possible thanks to a generous donation from Mrs. Margaret McCartan and the Pittsburgh/Tri-State Committee, through Lifeline Chicago and the Crown Princess’s Foundation in Belgrade.
This vast undertaking included the complete renovation of the wing which houses the youngest children of this home. The bathrooms were completely renovated and adapted for children with developmental disabilities and for infants. The walls of the wing were painted, new parquet flooring was also installed, and the living room and four large bedrooms in the wing were equipped with brand new amenities, including bookshelves, a television stand, toy boxes, a new corner sofa, children’s chairs, children’s stools, curtains, carpeting, bed linens, pillows and bed covers.
“I am very grateful to Mrs. Margaret McCartan and the Pittsburgh/Tri-State Committee for their very generous donation, this is such a big contribution for a better and nicer childhood of these lovely children. I am very proud of the work of the Lifeline Humanitarian Organization of Chicago and my Foundation in Belgrade, who together managed to make the children and employees of this Home happy with this project. And knowing the help is for the Republic of Srpska especially rejoices me, because the Drina is not a border.
Our donors have once again shown their readiness to unconditionally provide help and the love they have in their hearts. It is very important for all of us, that we always do our best to support our children and to provide them with good conditions for living, learning, and a better childhood. Seeing happy smiles on their faces gives me the strength to do even more for our people and children in Serbia and the Republic of Srpska”, said HRH Crown Princess Katherine.
“We want to express our gratitude to the long-time friends of our great Home – HRH Crown Princess Katherine Foundation, Mrs. Margaret McCartan, the Pittsburgh/Tri-State Committee, and the Lifeline Humanitarian Organization of Chicago for the realized project of renovating and equipping the educational group of the nursery in our home, which significantly improved the standard of living of our youngest users. You should know that the little ones were very happy with the new space for their stay and play, and the joy and smile on their faces are priceless to us. We are glad that you think of them and sympathize with their fate,” said Ms. Darijana Lukajić Kecman, director of the “Rada Vranješević” Home, on this occasion.
