A family from the remote village Mojsinje, near Cicevac, lived in a house which was about to collapse. Ms. Daniela Celikovic, a great Lifeline humanitarian and Princess Katherine’s friend found out about this, and together with Princess Katherine Foundation started building a new home for this poor family. Now, a few months later, at the same place where the old house was, there is a clean and warm family home.
“Lifeline New York Humanitarian Organization whose patron I am, is deeply dedicated to helping those in need in Serbia for years. My mission is to continue with engaging people in the United States with these wonderful projects and to encourage them to find the strength and ways to help. I wish a better life for family in their new home”, said Her Royal Highness Crown Princess Katherine.
The construction material was provided from donations (cement, limestone, gravel, armature, wood lumber, bricks, building cement blocks, roof tiles, construction glue and glue for ceramic tiles, hydro and roof insulation, ceramic tiles…). The house project was donated by the architect Prof. Dr. Brana Mitrovic.
“I can only imagine what the family was going through, watching how their dreams are becoming reality and it is very emotional to watch them moving into the new house. We all should feel very proud of what we have done for them, and at the same time we must remember that there are many more families who desperately need help. I know that only together we can continue bringing help and smiles to those in need and projects like this are assurance that we make world be a better place”, said Ms. Daniela Celikovic.
The construction material was donated by following companies: Best energy, Mikend, Univerzum Ciglana, Pestan, Bas Promet, Bramac, Bekament, Plan Project MMP, Jera commerce, Carmeuse, Tri O, Tehnomarket, Fasada, Baumit, MMP Stanojcic, Patenting and Sika. There are many other persons and companies who wish to stay anonymous. Of course, this would not be possible without help from Opstina Cicevac and their president Mr. Zlatan Krkic. In addition to all the work she has done, Ms. Daniela Celikovic also helped paying expenses for taxes for permits, various legal documents and transportation.
The new house has: two bedrooms, kitchen, dining and living room, hallway and bathroom and it is fully furnished. It is equipped with a wood and electrical stove, refrigerator and washing machine. Finally, we brought a full trunk of food (oil, flour, rice, pasta) and other household items (soap, toothpaste, shampoo, detergent, etc) to make sure they have essentials in their new home.
