CROWN PRINCESS KATHERINE FOUNDATION MARKS ITS 20TH ANNIVERSARY IN SERBIA

Over 250 projects worth millions of euros have been implemented over the twenty years since the HRH Crown Princess Katherine Foundation was established in Belgrade, but the first HRH Crown Princess Katherine donation was 28 years ago, in 1993 – donation of Isolation, Sterile room for hematology patients to University Children’s Hospital Tiršova.

For two decades, HRH Crown Princess Katherine Foundation has supported Healthcare, Social Welfare, and Education systems in Serbia and the Republika Srpska. Special focus is given to raising awareness of importance of breast cancer prevention. Among various medical equipment, such as mammography machines, ultrasounds, sequencer for testing cancer genes, most important was digital mobile mammography unit donated twelve years ago to Clinical center Niš, worth 700.000 dollars. During this period, over 145,000 woman was examined thanks to this mobile unit.

In the field of educational systems and Social Welfare, particular attention is devoted to kindergartens, preschools, and schools in Serbia.

In the last two and a half years alone, during COVID-19 pandemic, projects worth several millions Euros have been realized. Primarily focus of these projects was procurement of medical supplies and medical equipment with aim to protect doctors and nurses who are risking their lives to save lives of others, but also ambulances and other necessary devices needed for health care.

In addition, the Foundation pays special attention to progress in the field of medicine and health care and brings together the most eminent domestic and international experts through Royal Medical and Royal Nurses Boards as well as Royal Hearing Screening Committee, that were established under the patronage of HRH Crown Princess Katherine. For 11 years in a row, the Foundation organizes Serbian Diaspora Medical Conferences – SDMC to develop inter-expert cooperation and exchange of knowledge and experience from practice in all areas of medicine, which brings several hundreds of doctors from all over the world to Serbia, to create and improve professional relations but also friendships.

The success of the Foundation in the implementation of a large number of significant projects is direct merit of HRH Crown Princess Katherine, who for many years has been dedicated to humanitarian work and providing help to those who need it most. Thanks to Her Royal Highness’s reputation in domestic and international public, the Foundation brings together the most prominent representatives of the international community, as well as the Serbian diaspora with only one goal: to help Serbia and its citizens.

HRH Princess Katherine Foundation was established in Belgrade in September 2001, to continue and expand the tradition of humanitarian work initiated in 1993 in London, when Lifeline Humanitarian Organization was founded. Today, under the patronage of HRH Crown Princess Katherine, Lifeline has offices in New York, Chicago, Toronto, London, and Athens, that have been working for over 25 years, while the center of all activities is in the office of HRH Crown Princess Katherine Foundation in Belgrade, which has been working for over 20 years, upon the arrival of Their Royal Highnesses in Serbia.
